OVERVIEW
The entry-level LOW shock (-45mm seat height reduction) is for riders who want improved suspension and seat height. Each shock has a damping setting specifically developed for its application, and the spring is selected for the rider’s weight and intended use.
- Emulsion type (oil & gas mixed)
- CNC machined high-quality materials
- Manual, or hydraulic spring preload adjuster
Manufactured exclusively for Rally Raid Products by TracTive Suspension in the Netherlands, we designed our LOW shock to address all the shortcomings of the OEM standard suspension, while providing a more accessible seat height at a reduction of 45mm from OEM.
The LOW shock is available with a wide range of spring rates to more closely match your rider weight and intended load and riding style requirements, and includes a manual preload ring to allow you set your initial [rider] sag, and to then compensate for any addition luggage or passenger loads.
TECHNICAL SPEC
LOW Shock specification in more detail
The shock body itself utilises a large diameter (46mm) piston assembly for primary damping control, together with a second PDS piston/damping circuit to offer more accurate control and cushioning during the final portion of the suspension stroke.
The internal components are all precision CNC machined from Cro-Mo and Stainless Steel, with the shock featuring a 16mm diameter shaft to improve overall strength & rigidity and ensure consistently smooth operation and durability.
Our ADVENTURE Shock features
• Shorter fixed body and 110mm rear wheel travel to lower the seat height 45mm.
• Large diameter (46mm) shock body and piston with PDS valving.
• 16mm diameter shock shaft.
• Dedicated Compression/Rebound damping adjuster easily accessed at the base of the shock.
The LOW shock comes ready assembled with the choice of spring to suit your rider weight & luggage/passenger loads.
This shock is the choice for replacing your shock with a high end aftermarket product. It is especially suitable for when you do not need to change your damping in between tracks or when you are not looking for the optimum in damping control. This shock has a large damping adjustment range. Using the rebound adjuster, the damping can be adjusted with approximately 20 clicks. Every clicker adjustment brings a noticeable change in damping level. The rebound adjuster affects rebound damping and compression damping in a natural balance. The spring preload can additionally be adapted by using the tool supplied.
This shock has a mixture of nitrogen and oil inside. It has less internal friction than shocks with separation pistons, but also has a damping that is relatively less stable. These characteristics make this shock a very good and "value for money" option when driving on tarmac roads. The shock absorber is equipped with a so-called PDSII system against bottoming out. It has a 2nd damping piston mounted on top of the main damping piston. At the end of the ingoing shock absorber stroke, this 2nd damping piston enters a cup and creates an extra damping level. This happens only during the ingoing movement and only at high ingoing speeds. It effectively is a cushion that absorbs the high ingoing energy and prevents a hard bottoming of the shock absorber. This leads to increased comfort and safety. At the same time the bottoming impacts on the motorbike frame are minimised, leading to less bent bolts and damages.
The robustness of the preload adjuster facilitates rides in the harshest conditions and supports the highest loads without any issues. The large preload adjustment range of 15 mm (unless otherwise specified) is typically double the stock range and a lot more than almost all aftermarket brands. It allows for load compensation and for optimising the balance in the motorcycle.
SPRING RATES
A choice of 5 different spring rates are available (select from the menu above) to more closely match your weight and riding style requirements:
Spring rate guidelines:
We suggest you weigh yourself wearing your typical riding apparel (including boots and helmet), and apply that to the following spring rate chart - depending on whether you plan to ride mainly solo, or with an amount of luggage and/or a passenger.
Note that our built-in Hydraulic Preload Adjuster has enough range to typically compensate for an additional 60Kg of load if required.
Suggested Spring Rate (based on rider weight):
130 N/mm - typical Rider weight of 75kg
140 N/mm - Rider weight of 75-95Kg
150 N/mm - Rider weight of 95-120Kg
160 N/mm - Rider weight of 120kg +
IMPORTANT INFO
Note. Our LOW shock features reduced 110mm travel compared to the OEM shock, that will alter the the ground clearance but achieve a 45mm lower seat height.
