TRIUMPH 400 SERIES SHORT SIDESTAND

The Rally Raid Products Short Sidestand is a UK-made, direct replacement for the OEM sidestand on the Triumph Speed 400, Tracker 400 and Thruxton 400 when lowering the bike with the adjustable Rally Raid Suspension Speed 400 Low Shock. It is 30mm shorter than the OEM sidestand and is designed for bikes lowered by up to 20mm. Once the bike has been lowered, the standard sidestand is too long and the bike parks too upright. A short sidestand restores the correct lean angle, so a lowered 400 Series bike parks as securely as a standard one.

When do you need a shorter sidestand?

The Rally Raid Suspension Speed 400 Low Shock matches OEM ride height straight out of the box, so on its own it’s an improved rear suspension package and the standard sidestand works as normal. Its adjustable eyelet lets you lower the bike by up to 20mm, and that’s when you need this sidestand. The OEM sidestand is sized for the factory ride height: when the bike sits lower and the stand stays the same length, the bike leans less on its stand. That makes it less stable when parked on a camber, in a strong wind, or if it gets knocked. A 30mm shorter stand matches your new ride height.

FAQ

Do I need a short sidestand if I fit the Speed 400 Low Shock?
Only if you use the shock’s adjustable eyelet to lower the bike. At its out-of-the-box setting, the Low Shock matches OEM ride height and the standard sidestand works as normal.

Will it work on a standard-height Speed 400?
No. On a bike at factory ride height, a shorter stand will make the bike lean over too far. Only fit it to a lowered bike.

Will the sidestand switch still work?
Yes. The stand is designed to work with the bike’s sidestand safety switch and reuses the OEM spring and pivot bolt.

Does it fit the Scrambler 400X?
No. The Scrambler 400X and 400XC have their own short sidestand, available in -30mm and -60mm lengths.
